A collection of previously unaired music from Syko, featuring artists from across the eclectic drum & bass music scene.
Badged as a “Demo Sampler CD” this album takes the listener on a journey; stopping at a number of familiar genres as well as exposing the listener to some more experimental experiences on the way.
Starting with the title track “New Sound Symphony”, Syko blends his familiar style of intricate breaks, chords and haunting sounds with his own take on a symphonic ensemble that could be easily mistaken as the intro to a more “gentile” experience.
This sets the scene for what is to come with a journey into Syko’s past featuring an updated take on the Syko & Mak classic “Take Me Back” from the first EP recorded on PM Records in 1992.
Jouneying on, there are regular encounters with the deep soulful drum and bass genre; working in particular with Eschaton from Omni Music on the musically exquisite “Hope Cove” as well as a number of other solo tracks
Syko also explores genres influential to his music; exploring and experimenting with Hip Hop (Cold Winter), Balearic beats (Endless Summer) and the Early 80s Old Skool Electro Sound (Hyperspace).
A common theme running through the album are a number of tracks co-written with The Dicemen; a Soul and Funk collective with a number of smooth and accomplished Drum & Bass and downtempo tracks already under their belt.
This album is the first in the “Kwantic Revolver” Series. A series that aims to expose the listener to new sounds; exploring the origins of the drum & bass genre by artists new and old from across the scene.
